What is V-Score in PCB manufacturing?
A V-Score refers to a V-shaped grove that is cut into the PCB Material, between each copy of the board in question. Typically, a third of the PCB Thickness is removed from the top of the board, and another third from the bottom, leaving the third in the middle still joining the boards.
For thin panels, (Panelization) thinner than 0.8mm/31mil (down to min. 0.6mm/24mil), one-sided scoring is recommended. V-scores must be applied as straight lines onto PCB boards,so various restrictions exist for use . Scores must be straight V-shaped lines to pre-separate the circuit boards and are formed with precision cutting tools; therefore, scores can only be used for square or rectangular PCBs.
